Toha (Rashid) scored the only goal that won the game for Onduparaka against SC Villa at the Mandela National Stadium in Match Day 2.
In less than a minute into first half, the Leggy centre back successfully converted a free kick from 23 yards which beat SC Villa goalkeeper Brian Bwete.
Following the lead, Moses Basena’s lads didn’t sit back but tracked for an equalizer which Toha and crew denied although he mentioned it was tactical to let their hosts possess as long as they don’t do any harm in terms of goal scoring.
It isn’t the first time the Onduparaka skipper scored from a set piece situation. In the previous season, amidst interruptions by injuries, the 21-year- old was amongst the few defenders to appear on score sheet.
Records show Toha converted a couple of free kicks and scored from corner kicks as well. When asked how many goals he is looking forward to this season incase all factors remains constant, the defender who managed four goals in the previous campaign revealed desire to net more than ten goals.
“On set pieces, I’m really working hard and my target for this season as a defender is to score over ten goals. And thank God this is my first game, I missed against Nyamityobora, and it’s my first time, with a goal. I just want to ensure at least in every game, I get a goal. A goal is bonus, what really is important is to defend and the team wins but of course if I score a goal like today and helps the team win, I’m grateful and happy.”
The goal which happens to be the quickest in the Startimes Uganda Premier League uplifts the Caterpillars to second on the table with six points in two games.
Onduparaka’s next fixture is against their tormentor KCCA a fortnight from now at the Green light Stadium.
