RUSSIA SHOWS NO MERCY TO SAUDI ARABIA

Russia pitilessly demolished Saudi Arabia in the opening game of the 2018 World Cup at the Luzhniki Stadium.

The hosts of the 2018 World Cup scored five goals against a side they last met and lost to 4-2 in a friendly match silver jubilee years ago in Asia.

The Saudis quality passing type of game remained at that as they failed to master a ruthless scoring opponent time and again.

Substitute Artem Dzyuba scored the third goal at the 71st minute whereas Denis Cheryshev who also came as a substitute tactically with his versatile foot slashed at an angle past helpless Ibrahim Al-Mayouf Abdullah to make it four before Aleksandr Golovin’s gorgeous free kick beat the wall to close goal chapters.

Five goals in a World Cup opening is historic especially for a side that last played and won at the big stage decades ago.

Russia sends signal to the rest of the teams and the world that could be undermining them.

They also have set a trend that is expected to be maintained by most teams that have quality soccer stars.
