KCCA Wins Derby, Vipers Held Away, URA Shares Spoil

KCCA emerged victorious at the Kampala derby with goals from Muhammad Shaban and Derick Nsibambi.

After a goalless 45 minutes, the Kasasiro boys took charge four minutes into second half when Shaban’s attempt beat Saidi Keni meanwhile second half substitute Derrick Nsibambi sealed the deal at the 90+2.

Shaban postured a couple of threats but Keni’s attention to details frustrated the KCCA striker’s efforts before finally getting the break through which takes his goal tally to 13 and rediscovered his scoring streak for KCCA FC in the Uganda Premier League after missing to score in his last two appearances.

Shaban has scored 13 league goals this season, joint top scorer with Nelson Senkatuka and Dan Muzeeyi Sserunkuma

The win elevates KCCA past SC Villa to possess the second place on the table with 54 points, one a head of The Jogoos in equal 27 games.

With the 27 points in 28 games, Mujib Kasule’s troubles worsen with the defeat to KCCA as his side, Proline FC hopes of relegation survival remains on winning the two matches remaining as they hope other relegation candidates to lose.

Whereas away from home, table leaders Vipers SC survived suffering perilous title hope blow in a one all draw with stalwart Kirinya Jinja SSS.

The home side threatened away side with a first goal from Isma Kawawulo just eight minutes into first half.

But purposeful effort by the Kitende based side paid them off at the 57th minute through Moses Waiswa.

The Vipers midfielder who in the first half failed to capitalize on a clear cut chance 21 minutes later did the needful by powering a fruitful shot from outside the box past Kirinya’s goalie to level scores.

The draw enables Vipers maintain their position on the log with 59 points, five a head second place KCCA FC but in 28 games.

On the other side KJSSS remains stagnantly fifth on the log with 40 points in 29 games. Above the Jinja based side is Onduparaka with 45 points in 28 games and below is Maroons in 28 games.

URA and Masavu had a barren draw at the Mandela National Stadium. Results mean the tax collectors remain ninth on table with 34 points in 29 games as Masavu is virtually relegated. Sits last on the log with 26 points in 29 games.
