Shaban and Nsibambi to lead KCCA’s attack force against St. George

Shaban and Nsibambi will be the duo to lead the attacking force of KCCA against St. George of Ethiopia in the return leg of group stage qualifier of the CAF Champions League on Saturday afternoon according to Coach Mike Mutebi.

KCCA will host the Ethiopian giant at the Star Times Stadium Lugogo at 4:00 PM EST today as they intent to make history by becoming the first Uganda side to qualify for the continental group stages.

Timothy Awany captained his side in Ethiopia

Mike Mutebi is determined to play his best striking duo Derrick Nsibambi and Muhammad Shaban at the same time so as to increase the chances of conversion.

Shaban neither featured in Mutebi’s starting XI during the first round in Addis Ababa nor scored. Likewise Nsibambi did not score and Mike believes starting the two could be the end of their goal drought.

“…and my players, the forwards who also have been having a rough patch, Derrick and Shaban, they have not scored. They’ve gone long without scoring, maybe I’m seeing, the drought is going to end tomorrow. They are eager to score…”  He added, “Shaban will start this time with Derrick. Like I said, we want these forwards to start scoring.”

Mike Mutebi is banking on Nsibambi for goals too

Sadam Juma and Nunda will not play because of injuries but it isn’t a big worry as KCCA has variety of options. Manager Mutebi deemed it no big deal too but pointed out to prefer Paul Mucureezi to start a head of Poloto whom he said provides direct attacking options but the Bushenyi boy adds value in sporadic areas.

Sadam Juma celebrates first goal in a debut for KCCA against FUS Rabat last season. He is out for two months through injury

Winning the match by a one goal difference will directly qualify KCCA for the group stages of the CAF champions league no wonder Mike’s mind is full of attack.

Because the only way we have to score is by attacking. There is no short cut to win and going to the group stages, were the words of the lecturing coach.

But he also emphasized organization at the back line and understanding St. George Head Coach Vaz Pinto will as well come with an attacking mind means threat to his side, Mike said they won’t sacrifice offense to defense.
