Football fans to watch 240 games of Uganda Premier league come next season

Football fans of the Uganda Premier league will watch 240 games following the new deal FUFA and Football tiers in the country has struck with a Ugandan company called Sports Broadcasting.

Sports Broadcasting Limited announced they acquired the major commercial and media rights of not only Uganda Premier league but FUFA big league and FUFA Uganda Cup.

“Sports Broadcasting is pleased to announce the acquisition of major commercial and media rights of Uganda Premier League and FUFA Uganda Cup.” Reads part of the press statement.

The deal which is said to be worth 3 million USD is to last for Four years following its commencement date of 1st June 2018.

FUFA President Moses Magogo during the press conference said what is happening to the Uganda football is a result of the association professionalizing football by building solid governance for club football and enforcing the club licensing.

“Using the lessons of the previous failed attempt to professionalize club football, FUFA has constructed solid governance for club football and enforced the club licensing. Combined with the education of technical and administrative Human Resource, professionalism is being entrenched at all levels. This has given birth to commercialization which will yield more resources for the betterment of our game. What we are witnessing today is a new dawn and the beginning of an avalanche of Sponsors for football Bienvenue SB.”

The Chairman Sports Broadcasting Limited Brutus Kagingo promised the company will deliver world class local content to passionate sports fans in Uganda.

Whereas the Managing Director, Sports Broadcasting Limited Mr. Dennis Mbidde Sebugwawo recognized and commended FUFA for professionalizing the game and mentioned they are moving to the phase of commercializing the game.

We are now moving on the next phase of commercializing football and television is a great place to start. I applaud FUFA for taking the bold step in offering these rights to Ugandan Broadcaster and look forward to a fruitful partnership that will unpack a world of benefits for both the sport and the fans.”

Meanwhile Uganda premier league chairman, Mr. Arinaitwe Rugyendo extended his gratitude to their new partners for getting involved.

I thank Sports Broadcasting Limited for being part of a steady progress currently shaking Ugandan football.”

The deal will see the 3 million USD dispersed with Uganda Premier League getting $600,000, $70,000 for big league and $80,000 for Uganda Cup although it’s not clear which TV channels will be showing the match.
