Conte finally silenced his critics after collecting deserved maximum points from the fixture with Manchester United. The Italian has been a subject of criticism after failure to replicate previous season’s form. With the recent miserable defeat to Roma in the Champions League, events worsened.

But it was a nice way of replying critics as Antonio Conte’s Chelsea outplayed Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United although a goal was seen at the end of the game.

Nonetheless Manchester United still had chances to score through substitute Fellaini who made a scrambled shot which Courtois punched away, and also Rashford’s nice performance could result into a goal or two if not for the narrow off target snap shot and free kick.

The difference producer, former Real Madrid striker, Alvaro Morata after a series of threat he posed, finally at the 55th minutes powerfully headed off Cesar Azpilicueta’s long cross into the net as David De Gea’s stretch wasn’t enough in the presence of Eric Baily, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

Conte and Mourinho were seen shaking hands in a pretentious manner before the kick off and after the match, the two coaches were not sighted shaking hands any more. When interviewed by sky sports particularly in regards to that, Conte said winning is important as shaking hands is not.

“It’s not important. It’s important to win the game. You have to have the respect on the pitch not outside the pitch” Said Conte.

On the other side the topic of handshake was not discussed with Manchester united manager, Mourinho talked specifically about the match.

“It was an even match. Both teams could win. The first to score would be in more defensive control and to win the match. The first half was really even. In the second half in the only period where they were on top of the game, they scored.” Said Mourinho.

After the win, Chelsea moves a point closer to second place Man United who are eight points behind high flying Man City.
