Kasule says yes for interim Uganda Cranes coach Moses Basena to be given the permanent Job of coaching the national team.

Basena was appointed the interim coach after the former trainer Micho Sredojevic self-resigned due to obvious reasons that affect most offices in Uganda.

The FUFA president thought it wise to promote Basena to the role purposely to replicate results since he worked under Micho and understood the Serbian’s tactics.

Under Basena the Cranes beat Rwanda at the St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende by three goals to nil as they lost two nil away to Rwanda.

The Cranes Line up against Egypt

With the historic victory over Egypt less than a week ago at Namboole, Kasule believes the defeat Uganda suffered yesterday in Alexandria Egypt shouldn’t be dwelled in but rather consider the positives of Basena.

“We should have trust in our local coaches, and I believe Basena has done a good job with the national team so far. The federation should appoint him on a permanent basis.” Advised Kasule.

According to Kasule it is easier for a coach to deliver results when they know their future than when their future is not certain. This is what he had to say in his own words;

“It becomes easier to work when you are certain of your future instead of speculating on what is going to happen to you next.”

The Proline coach did not relate the defeat to Basena’s weaknesses indirectly but rather explained factors such as lack of natural number eight and wrong choice of player to fill in.

“The team lacked a typical number 8 to create scoring chances for the strikers and I believe that is why we struggled in the final third as Farouk Miya lacked match fitness. I also think Kizito Luwagga should have been given more playing time because you saw his impact when he came in.”

Farouk Miya played attacking midfield

To him Muzamiru Mutyaba would have done better, in fact he admitted if it were him on the touchline then Mutyaba would be the man.

“If I was out there I would have given Muzamiru Mutyaba a chance, because he has proved it in the CHAN qualifiers and also on the continent with his club.” Said Kasule.

Moses Magogo the FUFA president once said Uganda is looking for a coach not local or foreign person, from the looks, Basena could be given the Job as desired by Kasule and others.
