Micho explains why he dropped unexpected number of big names from the Uganda Cranes Squad that is preparing for the African Cup of Nationals (AFCON), code named Project Cameroon 2019 qualifiers against Cape Verde.

It was surprising for the first time after many years to see the head coach for this countries national team summon players based on contemporary merit not record or history.

Unlike in the recent times in which players such as retired Geofrey Massa were always in the cranes shirt, no matter what, no matter. Micho explains that he finds it illogical to call for a player who has been in active for the past four so months.

Conferring to what daily monitor Columnist Elvis Senono wrote in his article on Wednesday May 31st 2017, Micho stated that;

We are here to choose the best possible players that can in this moment serve Uganda with results. Whether someone will convince us to be the surprise call up however this isn’t time for experiments.”

The Serbian added that;

“It would be disrespectful to call up players who have not been active for four months.”

24 players participated in yesterday’s training at Kabira Country club and that was the first residential drill ever since they returned from the regional tour that took place in Kitara regions – Fort portal.

In the two dozens of players that trained, seven were foreign based while the rest were local based. However only a handful of more foreign based players are expected to join of whom are Khalid Aucho who will jet in this evening and Goal keeper Dennis Onyango.

Micho did not mention Moses Oloya, Godfrey Kizito, Tony Mawejje, Dennis Guma, Yunus Sentamu and Mike Azira amongst those foreign based players that hopefully would join later and it is attributed to his new believes.

Of course Micho could not include Kizito Luwagga after the midfielder took it personal and disassociated himself from the cranes because he thought positioning him at the striking was killing his career, while Robert Ondonkara is out due to injury.

If well noticed, KCCA has no representatives in the provisional number however there is no cause of alarm for the Kasasiro fans because the boys in yellow will become part of the national team over the weekend.

Micho Also revealed Onduparaka’s striker Muhamad ‘Jagason’ Shaban has fully recovered from injury and soon will be amongst the bunch before over all trimming of the team is done ahead of Thursday’s departure to Addis Ababa – Ethiopia for a friendly encounter on Saturday 3rd June.
