Miguel De Costa's Vipers SC striker Odur takes on URA player

Kampala – The first few matches for Vipers under the coaching of Miguel De Costa were hurting as the club was seen to be losing matches in a sequence, De Costa who was considered to bring evolution to the Kitende based side and new expertise that Ugandan coaches could borrow a leaf from became something to give a second thought to.

Well, The Portuguese true colors have begun manifesting positively, a few days back breaking the unbeaten home record of KCCA, then today overcoming prominent Uganda Revenue Authority Sports Club by a goal to nil. Courtesy of Tony Odur’s assisted by Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye.

A first half that ended goalless had possible goal events for both teams in which URA’s Hamis Kiiza beat goal Keeper Ismail Watenga and passed to midfielder Shafik Kagimu who decided to shot wider in front of a keeper-less goal post. Whereas Tony Odur’s goal attempt did not go past Alionzi Nafian.

Difference between the Entebbe road side and the Lugazi side became clear in the second half after Brian Nkuubi laid it off to astonishing teenager Frank Zaga and uniquely Zaga passed to the 33-year-old Ugandan striker Odur who made sure this time around it went passed Watenga at the 59th minute.

Vipers now seats 3rd on the table with 45 points after 26 games and 6 points behind table leaders KCCA which has a game at hand. Whilst the log shows Ibrahim Kirya’s side seats 4th behind Vipers 41 points after 26 games played. Vipers and URA play Bright stars and Kirinya Jinja SSS respectively next.
