KCCA breaks through to the Next Stage of Uganda Cup after fighting hard

Kampala – Mike Mutebi’s strategy of change of formation and rotating players to face Mbale Side Kataka at Nabini, Bufumbo almost cost KCCA chance to reach quarter finals of Uganda Cup. With key players like G. Sserunkuma, B. Ochan, P. Mucureezi, on bench as R. Sentongo C. Lukwago V. Kayiizi taking their roles respectively Kataka made it hard for the visitors.

Although KCCA piled pressure on the visiting team hence took the first lead by 22’ courtesy of Brian Majwega’s goal after Kataka goal keeper handled carelessly Ivan Ntege’s shot, Junior Amanya of the home side leveled scores eighteen minutes later. Before first half ended Kataka was already leading the scores with two – one. Nassur Nandala took a free kick from the right that hit the woodwork and turned to the net.

The introduction of usual stars Sserunkuma, Nsibambi, and Mucureezi to replace Sentongo, Kayiizi and Ntege in one way or the other resulted into KCCA equalizing. Majwega who was already in the pitch leveled scores with a successful converted Penalty. Whereas Substitute Derrick Nsibambi with a cross that came from Mucureezi headed the ball to put the Kasasiro boys in charge, and finally Nsibambi and an own goal closed the deal. KCCA will play already qualified side Police FC in the quarter finals of the competition.
