We Are In A Tough Battle For The Top Four – Arsene Wenger

Indeed Pep Guardiola’s view about how difficult it is to face Arsenal after a series of frustrating events the London side had experienced is true. Much as Manchester City showed a winning character in the whole of the first half and most of the second half, getting the goal that would differentiate the two teams remained a nightmare forever.

Sane gave visitors the lead as early as five minutes and Theo Walcott fought to level scores after beating the offside line and in less than two minutes Kun Aguero with a brilliant shot, restored the lead for City as 24 years old German defender Shkodran Mustafi equalized for the gunners. Walcott had an attempt on goal that he missed slightly before the first half ended but Guardiola’s boys outplayed the gunners except putting the ball at the back of the net was a challenge.

Technically and literally Manchester City was a better side however Arsenal’s boss Arsene Wenger admitted that the team was not at its best because of the pressure besides the nervousness and believed Arsenal is still competing for the top four.

We are in a tough battle for the top four. I am professional and I have shown great loyalty in the past. I love this club, I don’t know how long I will be here, I am clear in my head, that’s the most important thing. The decision will be soon. ” summarized the French tactician.

Meanwhile regarding the Arsenal performance versus City, Pep Guardiola said that, “They were better in the second half, but it’s ok, time to improve.” He further explained that after the goal, his boys didn’t play well in the first half.  “We didn’t play in the first half, after the goal we forgot to play, the desire went. In the second half we played more. We suffered a lot in the first half because we did not make those passes together. ” quoted the Spanish tactician.

The draw means Arsenal stays 6th on the table with 61 points as Manchester City is 4th with 58 points. Manchester returns to London in less than a weeks’ time to play Chelsea as Arsenal waits for West Ham at the emirates all on Wednesday night.
