KCCA FC lost to Township Rollers of Botswana away from home in the first group match Caf champions league.
Lemponye Tshireletso’s outstanding display yielded to the only goal that separated the two sides just in the first half once and for all.
Tshireletso came closer to scoring before he finally got breakthrough. He forced Tom Ikara who later became wobbly to a must save.
Minutes later, Township Rollers centre forward Joel Mogorosi strangely laid a pass to 31-year old Motswana playmaker Tshireletso who in turn made no mistake but accurately put the ball past Tom Ikara at the back of the net to punish Ugandan side at the 35th minute.
Right centre back Filbert Obenchan made a couple of critical clearances with one notable one that was destined to goal to ensure KCCA not to concede more goals.
Amidst the defeat, KCCA’s backline produced a fair performance with Timothy Awany’s confident display of defensive and leadership skills.
But the forward three Mike Mutebi fielded that consisted playmaker Allan Okello, prolific goal scorer Muhammad Shaban and Jackson Nunda didn’t pose enough threat to the back four of Nikola Kavazovic.
Shaban who previously in the domestic fixtures had scored 7 goals in four sequential matches had no attempt with exception of chance he created for Nunda whose shot went wide leaving goal keeper Kgosipula very comfortable in his zone.
Mustafi Kizza who intentionally was placed in the left wingback by Mutebi to deliver crosses and also maximize set piece opportunities did deliveries as expected unfortunately his late free kick was waved off over the bar by home goalie.
The win entitles Township Rollers to lead the group A table with three points and leaves KCCA least on the log with no points.
Meanwhile in other Group A fixtures, Al Ahly SC and Esperance who played a goalless draw are second and third respectively.
