Real Madrid gasps a little following a win over Getafe, thanks to two goals from Portugal International Cristiano Ronald and British export Gareth Bale.
Gareth Bale opened the scores for Zinadine Zidane’s side at the 24th from close range before Ronaldo doubled the lead at the stroke of first half as midfielder Portillo pulled one for the visitors through a penalty kick at the 65th minute before Ronaldo restored the lead range 13 minutes after.
Following the second book, Loic Remy was sent off at the 47th minute leaving Jose Bordalas’ side with ten players who couldn’t do much against desperate side who suffered a socking defeat to Espanyol four days ago.
Ronaldo could have scored three or more goals but unfortunately one of his goals was disallowed for having pushed an opponent whereas his scrupulous close range shot was saved by attentive Emiliano Martinez.
Bale also could have more to his name if not for his curling shot that hit the goal post besides his close range attempt that was parried away by Martinez.
The win does little in terms of positioning Real Madrid with the exception of elevating their points to 54, 12 behind Barcelona who have a match at hand.
Real Madrid will play next PSG whom they beat three weeks ago in the return leg of last 16 this coming champions league week.
