Sanchez and Mustafi scored in the first half as Arsenal claim first win from Tottenham Hotspurs in 3 years.
Shkodrani Mustafi scored the opener with a header at the 36th minutes off Mesut Ozil’s freekick which was disputable in others view given Davinson Sanchez’s intention and successful touch to the ball.
Whereas Arsene Wenger witnessed his most sought and out of contract striker Alexis Sanchez net his first premier league goal of the season at the 41st minutes.
Five minutes after Mustafi’s goal, Sanchez was set up by France international, Alexander Lacazzette. It was Hector Bellarin who beautifully gave a through pass to Lacazzette, who in turn with a cut back set up Sanchez to put the ball into the net at a close range.
Two England international players Harry Kane and Dele Alli missed the previous two international matches for England and return for the North London derby to deliver below per consequently were substituted before full time.
Much as Arsenal impressively won, the controversial decisions the referee made also contributed to Wenger’s victory. Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino wasn’t impressed by the refereeing decision either.
“I think it was an even game in terms of shots on target, in terms of possession but I am disappointed because the small details were against us.” Pochettino referring to the free kick awarded Arsenal for Sanchez bringing down Sanchez.
The goals of Arsenal remain questionable given both Sanchez and Mustafi looked fractionally offside in their goals respectively. Not forgetting the Ozil free kick which in an opinion of majority shouldn’t have been awarded.
