Onduparaka this Saturday morning of 14th October unveiled MTN Uganda as their second sponsor at the Desert Breeze Hotel Arua.
On September 5th, the Arua based club renewed their contract with their shirt sponsors Betway before the beginning of the season 2017/2018 after the expiry of the previous one year contract worth 180M.
The Caterpillars later struck another partnership deal with the South African owned telecommunication company worth 390M UGX for one year.
The renewed contract with Betway which is worth 600M UGX plus the 390M equals to 990M and will definitely impact a lot in the growth of the club which is in their second season of the top tier football in Uganda.
The partnership means Onduparaka Jersey will still have the Betway logo in front of the shirt as the main sponsors meanwhile MTN logo will be on the right upper position of the shirt adjacent to the club crest budge as shown in the images.
The MTN marketing and PR personnel Val Oketcho explained the reason why they partnered with Onduparaka is because of their humble beginning and following.
“The Onduparaka brand and wide fan base has been on a steady path of growth ever since the club was promoted to the Uganda Premier League. We admire the Club’s humble beginnings, it’s footballing successes so far including the ability to spot and groom upcountry footballing talent to compete on the national stage. This Ugx. 390M sponsorship to Onduparaka is a sign of our commitment to ensure that the brand continues to grow over the years in Uganda. We believe that it will go a long way in improving the Onduparaka brand and the welfare of the players” Said Val
MTN last month also partnered with KCCA FC, a rivalry club to Onduparaka. The three years sponsorship deal between the telecommunication company and the Lugogo Based club is worth 1.29billion.
The new sponsors of Onduparaka has promoted sports in Uganda including football and Basketball leagues. The Multibillion telecommunications company once sponsored the national team before the current sponsors.
MTN Uganda currently sponsors Rugby giants the Heathens, Golfer Deo Akope, the MTN gold Mugs, Kampala Chairman’s Cup.
