Shaban and Toha are not in the list of the national team that flew to Rwanda today for the second round of Total CHAN 2018 qualifier.
Initially reports from the player’s club indicated Shaban sustained injury in the fixture he was introduced in late towards the end of the game against Rwanda whereas Toha who sat through out on the bench is suffering from typhoid hence both were unlikely to travel with the contingent.
Surprisingly it’s reportedly said the national team coaches believe Shaban and Toha faked injury and sickness. Unfortunately Soccer 256 is unable to get the clear source of the claims reportedly made by Basena and his assistants except a disappointing response from the Onduparaka spokesperson.
“…..and the national team coaches said Shaban faked an injury meanwhile Toha faked Sickness…” Quotes Otelul’s statement.
In his own analysis, any player who earns from the national team just by seating on the bench wouldn’t fake injuries or sickness. This is exactly how he reasoned.
“…Why would players refuse to be part of a team where they are paid? Even from Bench you are still paid money! If Shaban faked injury why was he kept out of the Azam FC friendly game…?”
He defended that Shaban is injured as a result doesn’t train with his teammates but spends the entire evening with ice bad on the injured part.
“I am with Shaban per now, he doesn’t train with his team mates… he spends the evening with an ice bad on his injured knee.” Reads part of the defense.
Whereas he said Toha didn’t verbally claim sickness but had a medical form indicating the tall defender was suffering from typhoid.
“…..Toha’s medical card indicate that he has typhoid……” Said Otelul.
According to Otelul, the interim coach of Uganda Cranes intends to kick the Onduparaka duo from the national team gradually. This is exactly what he said;
“Basena doesn’t like these two guys he is keeping them because Coach Micho used to like them and they were in his plans. Basena is just getting excuse to kick these guys out of the team.”
In the absence of Shaban and Toha, Uganda will play the Amavubi Stars in Rwanda on Saturday at the at the Kigali regional stadium, Nyamirambo. A Draw qualifies the cranes for the CHAN finals slated to take place next year in Kenya.
