Kampala – Derick Nsibambi scored the only goal for KCCA against Police FC in the Uganda Cup quarter finals played at the Mandela national stadium on Sunday evening. A whole 90 minutes saw both KCCA and Police finish goalless but the first period of an extra time graced the Kasasiro boys with a goal through 22-year-old Nsibambi.
Police was blessed with a penalty kick by referee Rajab Bakasembe after Dennis Rukundo brought Antony Bongole down in the box. Unfortunately KCCA goal keeper Douglas Kisembo saved Rahmat Senfuka’s penalty. The win for KCCA tells the world the muscle the team has inspite of the tight fixture.
Mike Mutebi was impressed with the team’s performance and expressed appreciation for the fact that players are beginning to understand how he intends them to play.
“I’m happy with the display today because the players have started to master the way we want to play, being confident on the ball and dominating play, You could see the changes within the game, from playing three defenders to the flat four then changes in the midfield up to the attacking line.” quoted the Coach in the clubs website.
Additional he talked of their plans of winning Uganda cup, and said that would obviously happen if they overcome beast side Express.
“We still have two games to play in the semifinals against a bogey side Express. Though the target is to win the Uganda Cup. We must make sure we go past Express over the two legs before thinking about the finals.” Emphasized Mutebi
KCCA will play Express in the Semifinals of the cup, a side they beat a week ago in the Azam Uganda Premier League at Wankulukuku. The Semifinals will be played both home and away with consideration of away goal rule. But before the boys in yellow return on Tuesday at 4:30 PM for another fixture in the AUPL against Jinja relegated Side JMC at Kakindu.
