They say change will change whoever doesn’t embrace change but for Swansea, it’s a different case. Never in history have they ever beaten Tottenham in the Premier League and it seems the story will continue for now as the best Swansea did is sustain a one nil lead till 88 minutes.
Swansea became in charge of the game with a goal scored by Wayne Routledge by 11’. 77 minutes later Dele Alli neutralized the scores. Vincent Janssen helped Son Heung-Min grab the winning goal and Christian Eriksen put the home team to where they belong in history with the third goal in the additional time.
According to Mauricio Pochettino, the early chances created made players relaxed and thought it was going to be an easy game. “We started the game very well and created some chances in the first few minutes. In that moment I think we feel the game is going to be easy.” Quoted Pochettino
Swansea boss Paul Clement expressed his disappointment by the fact that were unable to defend the goal and couldn’t even settle for draw. “We are clearly very disappointed to get 88 minutes leading 1-0. We continued to defend well and limit them. The fact we conceded on 88 and then couldn’t even draw is heartbreaking” Said Clement.
