The St. Mary’s Stadium has been under construction and finished of recent but couldn’t be used for other games as excellency was added to it especially to host Platinum Stars of South Africa in the Caf confederation cup. Before the match Lawrence Mulindwa the club Patron echoed it through local media houses that he expects Vipers to win as a reward for the work he has done.
Indeed the Kitende side didn’t relax though most of the talk has been about the glory their stadium brought to Ugandan football and the pride they felt since they are the only Club in the whole country with a reasonable looking soccer pitch. They understood winning is better than owning a stadium.
The chase for that goal that would go into history, the first goal scored in the stadium was accomplished by Milton Karisa. Karisa’s 46th minute strike puts pressure on the vising side as they didn’t get any away goal. The two meet again in the return leg on March 18th in Rustenburg, South Africa home to Platinum stars.
